Fuckin' A Noto! Great take on a movie most people have seen. I really liked how you hearkened back to those HBO days.

Cool

For me, HBO showed me War Games repeatedly and Showtime showed me The Seductive Nurse and Young Lady Chatterley repeatedly.

I should just stop typing now...

Thanks, Cary!

I always have a real fondness for the cable 80’s shows of my youth. Some of them deservedly and some of them less so. Vacation is certainly one of the better ones. Glad that came across.

Beverly is hot. No screen captures of that scene?

Can we get an extended version with them included?

Great review Noto and a great lead off to our look at the Vacation films. I stole your idea of a trivia bit at the end. While mine isn't as personal or as cool (at least not what I could print Wink ) it fits with the theme you established.

Nice review, Noto, but I disagree that this is the best of the Vacation series (Christmas is the best). I do wholeheartedly agree with this statement:

Quote:
The script was written by John Hughes, the same John Hughes that went on to direct every single great teen movie of the 1980s – including the greatest, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – before disappearing from the camera and reverting back to writing.

Red is incorrect. Christmas vacation lacks serious funny, which the original simply oozes...
Great review, noto - it has reminded to take this off my "get to someday" list, and put it on my "should seriously consider renting this soon" list...

Christmas Vacation is actually one of the first 5 or 6 films I watched when I moved here...it has its moments, but compared to the original (and compared to Hughes' Uncle Buck, which I watched around the same time), it just wasn't good.
