The actress who plays Dr. Grey has kind of a quirky, odd mouth that I find strangely attractive.
Nice review, Noto, very well done. I don't watch the show, but Mrs. Shoe does, so I've seen a LOT of it while doing other things in the room. I can see why people get caught up in the drama. |

Can I just pick up this show from this season without needing a ton of backup information?
(I probably shouldn't open these screeners, but... freebies!) _________________ "Kind of like how all those big manufacturers threw money at Steven Spielberg to have their products prominently featured in Minority Report, never realizing the blackly satirical way Spielberg was going to use them." - Monterey Jack. |

I love the MAD TV send-ups of this show.
I really liked it when they combined GREY'S ANATOMY, HOUSE and SCRUBS. That was fucking funny.

You can probably find the fourth season (starting later this month) to be a good starting point since a lot of characters left at the end of Season Three and several more are starting. _________________ These movies just seem too 'Noto' for me.

Good review!
I've never seen Grey's Anatomy and probably wouldn't go out of my way to see it now. I did enjoy the review, though. It was well written. |

I've seen one full episode of Grey's Anatomy, and a few random scenes here and there.
I fucking hate Grey's Anatomy.
I hate the whiney, self-absorbed characters.
I hate the Oprahesque way they portray men.
I hate the over dramatic everything.
I hate the smug looks.
I hate that anyone could ever consider Patrick Dempsey sexy. _________________

In the world of mid-afternoon Bon-Bon eating fucking morons there are three types of men.
The sexy bad-boy with a heart of gold
The complete asshole
The timid nice-guy
All main character women are getting over the complete asshole buy getting with the timid nice guy while pondering/having an affair with the sexy bad-boy with a heart of gold. _________________

No one is named McSteamy in this show. That's a nickname used for a character behind their back.
Regardless, I'm sure that ABC is crying over your ignorance. _________________ These movies just seem too 'Noto' for me.

No character in Grey's Anatomy falls into any one of these archetypes although some have shades of it (particularly the asshole bit), so I don't understand what is Oprahesque about the show. Your other reasons for not liking it though are valid as it gets, although I can't imagine a soap ever being made without "over-dramatic everything" and whiny, self-absorbed characters (which in this show is really only Meredith, although Izzie can slip there from time to time.) _________________ These movies just seem too 'Noto' for me.

Oprah thinks she knows everything about men, but is actually completely clueless. From what I've seen of the show, all the motivations behind what makes the guys the way they are is shallow, illogical, and wrong. Just like Oprah.
This concludes the portion of my life spent thinking about that fucking show. _________________

Timid Nice-guy
| Spoiler (highlight to read): |
| To start, but he gets married and cheats on his wife with the hottest cast member and has more argumentative outbursts than any character on the show. With the exception of Dr. Yang & Dr. Addison, this guy has fucked every female cast member of the show. |
Complete Asshole
| Spoiler (highlight to read): |
| Hardly. He's the one character that I would not call an asshole. In fact, he's probably the most reserved. He's got (or rather had since he's no longer on the show) a God complex of sorts, but he's by far the friendliest male cast member, outside of George above, who (in the show) become best buds. He's celibate, and his only true interests are helping others. |
Bad Boy with the Heart of Gold
| Spoiler (highlight to read): |
| He hasn't done anything "Bad Boy" since early in the second season. Dr. Mark Sloan would be more appropriately labeled the Bad Boy if we were going to make labels. |

Oprah has proven herself wrong time and time again but I still don't see any connection. Grey's Anatomy is a well-written ensemble soap and all soaps are constantly changing so I can't see how you're prepared to typecast characters based on a one-episode viewing. It's fair enough to not like something and have no desire to see it, but since you just described three characters inaccurately I really don't understand where you're coming from. Do you just not like soaps in general, or did Oprah say something brilliantly stupid today to just set you off? Because if she made another television stupidity record, I would love to hear it. _________________ These movies just seem too 'Noto' for me.
